For Occupational Therapy students who are considering working with COMPLEX Autism through NDIS providers and who need support for managing fieldwork placements please consider advanced clinical supervision in addition to the therapy support that you are receiving whilst on placement. This is no different than attending a workshop to learn greater detail than you would when you graduate. This is a COMPLEX area for Occupational Therapy and requires advanced support for your own safety when working with clients and their families. Appointments are billed at $190 per hour. It is recommended that you complete your fieldwork placement FIRST and then give yourself a few months to settle into the knowledge that you gained during that placement. Then think through the issues that you experienced and the difficulties with the placement themselves that come from the complexity of the diagnosis and the types of strategies that you thought would be offered compared to what the setting ALLOWED you to offer. To organise an appointment, think through the decisions that you made and what you would have liked to have done differently. If you are able to identify those areas that you would have liked to have had done something differently then advanced supervision post this placement is appropriate for you.
