Goal directed

Exploring. Learning to sit. Learning to stand. Learning to climb. Learning to walk. Learning to run.

Notice the emphasis on ‘learning’.

Specific types of movements are built up of specific steps or sequences of body movements linked together.

Why do I reach for something? Am I hungry? Am I thirsty? Do I want to get your attention so I reach out to tap your shoulder because you told me to wait and I have been yet its been a long time, so my goal in reaching is to get your attention, yet some of the coordination skills (sequence of steps) are the same as reaching for something else. Yes or No? Detailed analysis is necessary to look at the ‘why’ we move. Yet it is an internal process. I stretch because I am uncomfortable. I scream because I am in pain – yet is that a release of muscular tension and change in diaphragm pressure or a communication to ask for help – but, is there anyone in the room? Is there anyone listening? Is it reflexive in that its helpful for my body to move in this way or is this part of a seizure?
